Abstract

A sliding door (10) for showers, having a plurality of sliding door leaves (11, 12 and 13), which are displaceable along an upper guide rail (14), is to be designed in such a way that the sliding door leaves (11-13) can be swivelled in a simple manner from their vertical position of use into an oblique position. For this purpose, the guide rail (14) is produced from a cross-sectionally circular profile and is at least partially overlapped by guide devices (16) connected to the sliding door leaves (11-13). At the upper end of a vertical beam (17) of a central sliding door leaf (12), an extending arm (19) is attached to a running roller (20) which is guided in a guide groove (15) of the guide rail (14) and is mounted in a floating manner on the free end of the extending arm (19). <IMAGE>

Shower cubicle sliding door

The present innovation concerns a shower cubicle sliding door with several sliding door leaves that can be moved along an upper guide rail and that can be pivoted independently of one another from their vertical position of use into an inclined position for cleaning purposes.

The aim of this innovation is to create a shower cubicle sliding door of the generic type in which the pivoting of the sliding door leaves is achieved in a particularly simple manner.

This task is solved in a generic shower cubicle sliding door by the following features:

a) the guide rope ie iie consists of a circular cross-section profile with an external, axially parallel guide groove,

b) the guide rail is protected from guide devices which

are attached to the upper ends of vertical bars of the sliding door leaves, at least partially encompassed,

c) at the upper end of a vertical bar of an outer sliding door leaf located in the sliding area of an adjacent vertical bar of a central sliding door leaf, an arm is connected to a roller mounted at its free end and guided in the guide groove,

d) the roller is mounted on the free end of the boom in a pendulum manner.

By using a circular profile for the upper guide rail and by using guide devices that at least partially surround this guide rail, the requirement for pivotable mounting of the sliding door leaves is met in a particularly simple manner. Since it is always necessary to move adjacent vertical beams of an outer and a middle sliding door leaf against each other, the use of a roller mounted on a boom and its guidance in the guide groove of the guide rail is necessary. The ^pivotability of this outer door leaf is then ensured by the guide device that surrounds the guide rail on the one hand and the pendulum mounting of the roller on the boom on the other.

The bearing of the pulley on the free end of the boom corresponds to the design of a spherical bearing. Such a spherical bearing can be produced inexpensively and is sufficiently precise for the intended application.

The shower cubicle sliding door shown in perspective in Fig. 1 and designated overall by the reference number 10 has three sliding door leaves 11, 12 and 13, which are slidably guided along an upper guide rail 14.

section circular profile with an external, axis-parallel guide groove 15, which is shown very clearly in Fig. 2.

The guide rail IA is at least partially surrounded by guide devices 16 at the upper ends of vertical beams 17 of the sliding door leaves 11 to 13.

Fig. 2 again clearly shows that these guide devices 16 are provided with several support rollers 18 supported on the circumference of the circular guide rail IA.

This allows for smooth longitudinal movement and also opens up the possibility of pivoting the sliding door leaves 11 to 13 from their vertical position of use into an inclined position in order to be able to clean the overlapping area between adjacent sliding door leaves more easily.

Fig. 2 also makes it very clear that a bracket 19 is attached to the upper end of a vertical beam 17 of an outer sliding door leaf 11, which bracket carries a roller 20 at its free end. This roller 20 is guided in the guide groove 15 already mentioned.

The bearing of the roller 20 on the support 19 is to be described as a pendulum bearing and the support 19 carries a ball 21 at its free end, while the bearing bore 22 of the roller 20 is designed as a partially spherical inner ring.

This also ensures that the boom 19 can be welded relative to the roller 20 without any problems, so that the outer sliding door leaf 11 can also be pivoted out of its vertical lifting bearing without any difficulty.

As Fig. 2 clearly shows, the roller is made up of two parts and consists of the already mentioned inner ring 23 with the partially spherical bearing bore 22 and a ball-bearing race 24 mounted on it. This two-part, ball-bearing construction ensures that this roller 20 runs very smoothly despite the possibility of being able to deflect the boom 19 in relation to the running direction of the roller 20.

To dampen noise, the race 24 of the roller is preferably made of plastic or rubber.
