Description
Method of making luminous screens When sedimenting Phosphors, e.g. B. for fluorescent screens in cathode ray tubes, are mostly used in order to achieve good adhesion of the screens to the glass surface, any binding agents, which you add to the suspension liquid. The most common is probably potassium or Sodium silicate used. If you z. B. used as the suspension liquid water and this z. B. Adds potassium silicate, so you have to, if you have a good adhesion of the If you want to achieve fluorescent paint, use relatively concentrated solutions.
This is explained by the fact that after the phosphor has been deposited supernatant suspension liquid, d. H. so the main part, removed again and consequently only small amounts of the binding agent remain in the screen. aside from that It is easy with this method that the detached screen is removed when it is removed the excess liquid z. B. slips by suction.
The method according to the invention avoids this difficulty by that a saturated solution of z. B. potassium-sodium-silicate or a mixture both in a mixture of ethyl alcohol with water, one of the respective Screen color adapted amount of this mixture with a larger volume of ethyl alcohol mixed, so that as a result of the increased alcohol concentration, a supersaturation Binder occurs and this at the same time as the luminescent paint that is deposited fails. ' The reason why the umbrellas made in this way do not slide so easily when removing the excess amount of liquid, lies in the fact that now practically all of it, originally in the suspension liquid The amount of binder in the screen and the supernatant liquid consists almost entirely of pure alcohol and water.
