Üblicherweise wird der Kurzschließer durch eine beispielsweise von der Gleichspannung gespeiste Magnetspule in seiner geöffneten Stellung gehalten. Damit die Auslösung schnell erfolgt, muß die Zeitkonstante des Haltestromes dieser Spule gleich oder kleiner sein als die mechanische Auslösezeit des Kurzschließens. Aus diesem Grunde dürfen im Haltesstromkreis möglichst keine Induktivitäten vorhanden sein. Man wird daher zur Strombegrenzung Widerstände anwenden und' wird die Haltespule selbst mit wenig Windungen und verhältnismäßig großem Strom ausführen. Der Haltestrom wird so eingestellt, daß er im normalen Betrieb um einen gewissen Betrag, beispielsweise 2o%, über dem Abfallwert liegt.
