Description
Process for the production of surface alloys by diffusion The main patent 677 113 relates to a process for the production of surface alloys by allowing solid metals to diffuse into the surface of solid metals, primarily in the surface of iron, after because the metals to be alloyed together in one neutral molten salt. The diffusion metal is preferably -metal mixture or the diffusion metal storage as powder the solid salt or added to the completely liquid molten salt. One: such a chromating process, which eliminates any effect of oxygen on the metals to be processed and according to which particularly useful diffusion layers can be produced, is now to be improved and further developed according to this invention, that the metal to be diffused, for example chrome metal; on the surface the parts to be treated with it can act in its state of origin. It it was found that the metal diffusion proceeds particularly favorably and vigorously when the metal to be diffused is not used as such, but in the form of a compound .n the molten salt enters, this connection is reduced by a? wide substance and the metal obtained in this way diffuses directly.
651j, trockene Erdalkalichloride. This can be done in the production of surface layers made of chrome Procedure according to the. Invention in a particularly simple and effective way, for example To do so, i.e. add a mixture of chromium chloride to the neutral molten salt bath - "and a reducing agent, wieagnesxitfri or aluminum, both mixed with dry alkaline earth chlorides, adds "-; after adding the mixture, the expedient pressed into small briquettes or balls into the neutral molten salt the object to be treated is brought into the melt, in which it is then remains until its surface with your metal to be diffused in the each desired strength is enriched. It can be useful to add the mixture from chromium chloride, the reducing agent and the alkaline earth chlorides of the neutral The molten salt bath is continuously added in smaller quantities and the "addition of your progress." to adapt to the reduction and diffusion. As an example of one in the form of Briquettes pressed mixture to be added to the neutral molten salt has proven itself for the chromium diffusion results in something like the following: 2, "11, chromium chloride, 811: 0 magnesium. 651j, dry alkaline earth chlorides.
In this': mixture, the magnesium can be wholly or partially be replaced by Altuninium.
,It is known per se that powdered chromium metal from chromium chloride can be vinted by heating the chromium chloride to red heat in the presence of alkali chlorides with excess magnesium. The invention consists in the application of such a method to: metal diffusion using neutral molten salts, as described in main patent 677 113. ,
