Neben einer abermaligen Querschnittsverringlerung durch ein solches Winkelstück war noch dazu eine Korrosion dieser stets in der Flüssigkeit liegenden Verbindung unvermeidlich. Auch ist es üblich gewesen, eine gleichfalls mit Knaggen versehene Glocke durch eine durch die Öffnung des Dampfstutzens hindurchgeführte Bügelschraube zu halten, was aber wiederum eine bedeutende Querschnittsverminderung zur Folge hatte. Nach einer weiterhin bekannten Ausführung wtude ein Teil des Glockenrandes bis zum Kochboden herabgezogen, um mit diesem durch Nieten oder Schrauben direkt verbunden zu werden. Eine solche Verbindung befand sich aber wiederum in der Flüssigkeit, so daß bei -einer eingetretenen Korrosion ein Lösen beider Bauteile kaum mehr möglich war.
