Description
Surgical Closure Material The properties of surgical Sutures, such as tensile strength, absorbability, lack of irritation and the like, hang i.a. depends to a large extent on the quality of the raw material. So in particular is of animal raw material known that there are places in the tissues that result of fat deposits, accumulation of blood vessels and the like, among others. a little have a solid structural structure, which later on the finished thread will be less Shows tensile strength. In order to counteract this disadvantage and thereby inter alia. the To increase tensile strength at these points, according to the invention are already before or the tissue parts or the intestinal parts expediently during further processing impregnated with polymers of monovinyl compounds. At the same time lets through such an impregnation influence the resorption time in a certain direction and, in the given case, achieve unresponsive healing of the thread material.
The method is applicable to animal fibers, as in the usual Catgut is used on muscle fibers and other fibers of animal origin, on silk, wool, and also on vegetable fibers such as cotton, finally on suitable appropriate combinations. The procedure allows in particular also, from per se more or less unsuitable raw material, z. B. insufficient tensile strength, to gain uneven, usable suture material.
AlspolymereMonovinylverbindungenseien beispielsweise angeführt Polyvinylalkohole, Polyvinylester, Polyvinylacetale, Polyacrylsäureester und deren Derivate u. a. mehr.Examples of monovinyl compounds are polyvinyl alcohols, Polyvinyl esters, polyvinyl acetals, polyacrylic acid esters and their derivatives, among others. more.
B. zwirnen, drehen o. dgl.The polyvinyl compound is added to the raw material to carry out the process incorporated at an appropriate stage of the work process. You can z. B. the fabric tapes before or during processing into threads with the polymeric monovinyl compounds soak. The fiber or raw thread material can be planar in a solution or suspension or, if appropriate, further process the melt of the polymonovinyl compounds, e.g. B. twist, turn or the like.
Appear particularly suitable for carrying out the present method the polymeric vinyl alcohols or their partial ones, which still behave similarly Derivatives. By choosing the low or high polymer qualities you have it in the Hand, the desired fiber material with an easily or difficultly soluble or easily or hard-to-absorb impregnation. When using the polymer Monovinyl compounds, especially of polyvinyl alcohol, are able to through Addition of suitable, absorbability-increasing substances, in particular of Electrolytes, preferably organic acids, e.g. B. lactic acid, acetic acid, the To favor the resorption process or to slow it down by other types of additives. The addition of absorption promotes the electrolyte to polyvinyl compounds alone is known per se, but not in connection with the incorporation of polyvinyl compounds in natural thread material.
Also effective in a different direction are additives known per se, e.g. B. therapeutic effective, bactericidal, as well as other desirable measures, e.g. B. special sterility guaranteeing work can be combined with the present method. These measures are also related to the incorporation of polyvinyl compounds in natural thread material new.
