Abstract

A part 2;3 for use in a moulding apparatus, for example in a tablet press, comprises a shaped member 18;21 which comprises zirconia. The part 2 may be a punch, which may incorporate in the shaped member 18 comprising zirconia a patterned surface for forming a complementary patterned surface on articles moulded in the moulding apparatus. The part is resistant to wear and enables well-defined embossed or impressed regions to be formed reproducibly on moulded articles. In another aspect of the invention a method of making a moulded article which is administrable to a human or animal, comprises introducing a zirconium containing compound into a mould with the material to be moulded.
