Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The purpose of the process is the production of a material, which in this respect is used for production of oxygen according to Tessie du Motay is suitable as it does not melt or cake, if the company happens to have a higher temperature than usual. That Process consists essentially in that the material is heated significantly higher than it is the case later in the process of obtaining oxygen, and that that The material was then brought into contact with powdered manganese dioxide in small pieces in such a way that it is surrounded by a layer of this brown stone on all sides. In detail, the procedure is as follows:
About 450 g of caustic soda are dissolved in about 1 liter of water with the application of heat and the mixture is then heated to about 100 ° until the caustic soda is completely dissolved is. Then add about 450 g of brownstone and just as much manganese acid to the mixture Add baking soda, heat, stirring constantly, until the moisture has escaped and a dry mass remains. This mass then turns into a strong red glow or even heated to a white glow, that is, to a temperature which is by far exceeds that which the material used in the actual process of extracting Is later subjected to oxygen. Then the mass is removed from the vessel in which it has been heated and crushes it into pieces about the size of Wallnufs. These pieces, which are somewhat sticky are then rolled in powdered brownstone so that they become a layer of the latter is attached to its perimeter. This part of the process is of the utmost importance, as this causes the Pieces at high temperature is prevented; if this part of the procedure is omitted, so the purpose of the entire treatment may possibly remain unattainable.
