Es ist bekannt, einen ununterbrochenen Tabakstrang unter Benutzung eines ringsum geschlossenen Kanals zu bilden, durch den der Strang zwecks Erzielung gleichmäßiger Dichte unter Stauung hindurchgeführt wird. Bei den bekannten Ausführungen wurde hierbei der Tabak als ein loser Tabakschauer in die Strangrinne befördert.
