Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
zerbrechlichem Material.fragile material.
The object of this invention forms a projectile for heavy artillery, a so-called. Hooded bullet, the purpose of which it should be, with the same accuracy as armor plates up to now by ships etc. even then to break through with security or. a ricochet to prevent from them if the projectile hits the armor at a less favorable angle.
The storey consists of a full or hollow body made of steel or hard cast iron, its Head stepped, d. H. of circular or prismatic, stepped one above the other and paragraphs 2, 2, 2, 2 tapering towards the top. Over these steps or paragraphs a Made of easily breakable material, non-pierced hood 4 with a smooth surface set. The attachment of these made of cast iron, thin steel plates, porcelain ^ glass or any other material made hood on the projectile body either by simply driving on (Fig. 1 to 3), but more secure by screwing (Fig. 4 and 5) or take place in any other arbitrary manner. The penetration of the armor plate is secured in such a storey that at least one of the sharp edges of paragraphs 2, 2 penetrates the armor after breakage of the hood 4, sliding prevents and produces the intended penetration or explosive effect. An ordinary bullet with a conical head would, if the angle of impact was unfavorable bounce off the armor plate. The hood 4 is required to this floor same trajectory respectively. To secure speed, which the common projectiles have, because without this hood the air is a consequence would offer great resistance to the stepped shape of the projectile head. The hood 4 secures So on one side of this story, the previous speed, and in that same, on the Hitting the target object (armor plate, etc.) immediately breaks, it allows the sharp The edges of the stepped head prevent the projectile from sliding off the tank.
In Fig. Ι such a storey is drawn in view,
Fig. 2 stellt den Geschofskörper 1 in Ansicht und mit abgehobener Haube 4 dar,Fig. 2 shows the projectile body 1 in view and with the hood 4 lifted,
Fig. 3 ist ein Längsschnitt durch Fig. 1,Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section through Fig. 1,
Fig. 4 ein Geschofskörper 1 in Ansicht mit Haube 4 im Längsschnitt, bei etwas veränderter Bauart,4 shows a projectile body 1 in a view with a hood 4 in a longitudinal section, with a slightly different one Design type,
Fig. 5 finally shows a hollow storey and the hood lifted from the latter in the partial cut.
Any material, powder, slanting cotton, can be used as cargo for this projectile etc., usable.
