Description

The invention relates to a method for welding used, to the butt ends of worn rails by means of the electrical resistance melting process ens.
In the previously customary methods, the rail ends are clamped into the stump cutting machine in such a way that the rails are exactly in the same alignment with one another. It turned out, however, that a perfect weld cannot be achieved in this way, rather that wear still remains recognizable at the joint.
The method of the invention overcomes the defect in that the Schieneiienden are so clamped in the welding machine, that the two longitudinal axes of the rails form at the mounting point an angle to each other, which according to the side of the rail bases is toward smaller than i8o J.
Durch die erii.11-During the melting process, the material is on the rail ends to be welded, starting from the weld joint, about 40 to 50 mm heated so much that it can be easily deformed. Through the erii.11-
The ends of the lines that are clamped in ascending order towards the stump lateral thrust or compression pressure exerted creates an upwardly directed one at the joint itself Component. This component pushes the softened, freely protruding rail ends upwards. It educates a reinforced compression bulge develops towards the head of the splint. In addition, the In this way, create a slight camber in the weld. After removal of the edging burr, the Fahrrläclie is finished by means of the rail plane, and a perfectly level driving surface is then created.
It is already known to wear worn rail ends. Driving up their heads to make usable again. However, this has become very complicated and expensive Aids operated, special heating devices and forging equipment, or one cut the rail web a little, which then again after driving up the head had to be welded. In contrast to these cumbersome procedures, according to is sufficient of the present invention, the mere angular ^ clamping of the rail ends in the Welding machine of known type to get to the target. Any blacksmith work by hand is not necessary.
The invention is illustrated schematically in the drawing, the angled The clamping of the ends of the slides is shown greatly exaggerated.
According to the invention, the longitudinal axes of the rails 1, 2, 3 form one at the clamping point Angle with each other that is smaller than iSo ° on the side of the rail feet. to For this purpose, the jaws can have a wedge-like shape. It is easier, however, to use wedge-like side dishes. Between the rail feet 1 and the lower clamping jaws 11 are the wedge-like supplements 13, likewise between the rail heads 3 and the upper clamping jaws 10 are the shims 12. The rail ends are inevitably brought into the desired angular position. The Rail lengths on both sides rest on roller tables, which are not shown.
If the clamping jaws are now moved towards one another in the direction of the horizontal arrows * with strong pressure, the vertical force component y arises at the joint, which causes the desired upward movement of the rail heads. Finally, the rails are freed from the weld burr with an air chisel and smoothed with the rail planer, after which a completely flat running surface is finished at the weld point. The welding point can also be subjected to a suitable subsequent heat treatment.
