Abstract
A discharge for a fluid, especially gas, over the flat surface of a work-piece. The discharge comprises a flat array (6) of jets (1,2,3,4) arranged in groups. The distance between individual jets within a single group is less than the distance between jets in neighbouring groups. Each jet has gas guide-vanes (7), and each group of jets discharges a joint vortex covering 360 degrees . The vanes may be fitted to both the inlet and outlet sides of the array. The vanes deflect the gas through an angle of preferably 15 to 45 degrees .
