Abstract

The machine has stops and high holders for the leading and trailing edges of the sheets. The front sheet high holders can be moved into the stack area above the main stack (1) at an angle (`) inclined to the horizontal. Lower stops (15) fixed on a vertically movable support (12) extending stretched beneath the insert plane of a second stack support (2) are movably guided on the stops (14) which are fixed on the cross beam (10). The support (12) has at the free ends wedges (16) projecting into the stack area with the wedge face facing the main stack and directed, seen in the conveyor direction, inclined upwards into the insert plane of the secondary stack support. A coupling rod movable by a work cylinder (19) is connected to ternary members parallel to the side of the support (12) remote from the stack area. These ternary members act in turn on the rear sheet high holders (17) to move same horizontally into a position between the trailing edges of the upper sheets of the main stack. The rear sheet high holders can be moved through engagement of the secondary stack support (2) with the wedges and the resulting lift of the support (12) up to above the main stack (1).
