Abstract

The invention relates to a process and a device for pickling workpieces of high-alloy materials in which the workpieces are immersed in a mixed-acid bath, or passed through a mixed-acid bath, consisting of nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid and water with amidosulphonic acid (NH2) HSO3 added as NOx acceptor. The invention is characterised in that the vaporous reaction products produced during pickling and containing nitrogen oxide components (NO, NO2) are sucked off in a known manner together with the room air in the intake region, the NOx component is continuously measured directly in the region in which the reaction products are produced and, if a specified threshold value for the NOx component is exceeded, a quantity of amidosulphonic acid in liquid form is added in excess to the mixed acid by the process control system and this procedure is repeated either if the specified threshold value is again exceeded or if at a specified time after completing the addition, the value actually measured for the NOx component is still above the specified threshold value. <IMAGE>
