Description
Process for the production of completely homogeneous dry substance extracts The subject of patent 576 939 is `` a process for the production of completely homogeneous dry substance extracts from the group of heavy metal and alkaline earth metal salts of naphthenic acids, which are easily soluble in drying oils and in volatile organic solvents, according to which these naphthenates in the fatty acids of drying or semi-drying oils, such as linseed oil, wood oil, soybean oil, poppy seed oil and others.
It has now been found that one can also obtain uniform dry matter extracts obtained when the fatty acids used as solvents are drying and semi-drying Oils are partially replaced by these oils themselves. Although the solvency of the fat Oils for the dry matter is pretty limited, you can get the ratio of fatty acids change to fatty oils within wide limits. It can be of the latter The fatty acids in question even add an amount equal to that of the fatty acid significantly exceeds, without fear of precipitation of dry matter were. This phenomenon is due to the fact that the dissolving power of the fatty acids drying or semi-drying oils for naphthenates is an almost unlimited one. Any fatty acid, drying or semi-drying oil can be used with any These fatty oils can be used together; mixtures of different ones can also be used Fatty acids with mixtures of different fatty oils are used.
The advantage of the new process is on the one hand that the naturally occurring fatty oils such as linseed oil, wood oil, soybean oil, poppy seed oil, etc., are significantly cheaper than the free fatty acids obtained from them by a cleavage process the lower solidification point of the oils (compared to that of the fatty acids) are less exposed to thickening at low outside temperatures. Example 100 parts by weight of technically pure naphthenic acid are saponified at the boiling temperature with up to 200 parts by weight of caustic soda or other alkalis, depending on the acid number. The clear soap solution is first mixed with a solution of 100 parts by weight of lead nitrate (crystalline) and the remaining naphthenic soap is quantitatively precipitated with a solution of about 100 parts by weight of manganese sulfate. The resulting precipitate is washed hot about three times and, after the last wash water has been drained off, dewatered by a short melting process at about 1300 C. During dewatering, depending on the yield of 110 kg, 29o kg linseed oil + 87o kg linseed oil or 145 kg linoleic acid -j- 435 kg linseed oil or 72.5 kg linoleic acid -f- 217.5 kg linseed oil are added, depending on the concentration of solid Dryer to solvent i: i, 2: i or 4: 1 is desired. This gives a completely homogeneous lead-manganese-naphthenate extract (so-called lead-manganese-soligen extract), which in no way differs from that made with pure linoleic acid.
