Bei Abgaslufterhitzern, die aus gußeisernen oder schmiedeeisernen Rippenrohren oder besser aus kupfernen Rohren mit schmiedeeisernen Rippen bestehen, muß die Ausdehnung der Rohre berücksichtigt werden.. Man walzt deshalb in üblicher Weise die Rohre zu Bündeln beiderseits in sogenannten Rohrplatten ein, wovon eine am Rand geschwächt ist, um bei der Ausdehnung des Rohrbündels nachzugeben. Auch läßt man die Rohre nach einer anderen Bauart auf einer Seite in Stopfbüchsen gleiten. Beide Hilfsmittel sind aber unzureichend für eine dauerhafte gasdichte Verbindung. Während im ersteren Falle sich nur das gesamte Rohrbündel ausdehnen kann, ist im zweiten wohl die Ausdehnung eines jeden Rohres für sich möglich, doch bietet die stopfbüchsenartige Lagerung der Rohre keinen dauernd dichten Gasabschluß.For exhaust air heaters made of cast iron or wrought iron finned tubes or better be made of copper pipes with wrought iron ribs, the expansion must of the tubes are taken into account.
