Es sind bereits Ausführungen von selbsttätig wirkenden Lesezeichen bekannt, jedoch besitzen diese den Nachteil, daß zur Unterstützung ihrer Schwingbewegung elastische bzw. federnde Organe vorgesehen sind, welche bereits nach kurzer Benutzungsdauer Abnutzungs- bzw. Ermüdungserscheinungen zeigen, so d'aß die Betriebssicherheit der Betätigungseinrichtung für das Lesezeichen wesentlich vermindert wird. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, daß an der Anlenkstelle der Hebel in Reibungseingriff mit diesen stehende, an sich bekannte Arme angelenkt sind, die an ihren freien Enden zwei zusammenklappbare, gelenkig miteinander verbundene Platten tragen, die von den Hebeln beim Auf- oder Zuklappen des Buches vermittels der durch Reibung mitgenommenen Arme geöffnet bzw. geschlossen werden. Die Hebel besitzen in an sich bekannter Weise U-förmige Profile, und die Arme liegen derart zwischen den Schenkeln dieses Profils, daß der Steg des U-förmigen Profils einen Anschlag für die Arme bildet. Um eine Anpassung der Stellung des Buchzeichens an die gegenüber d'en Buchdeckeln stets wechselnde Lage der zu kennzeichnenden Seiten zu ermöglichen, ist der Drehbolzen eines der Hebel in einem Schlitz verschiebbar gelagert.
