Abstract

The invention relates to a value document (1) provided with at least one safety element (6) comprising a marking layer (8) which is arranged in a marking area (4) and is applied to a substrate (2) containing electroluminescent pigments (10). The aim of said invention is to produce a value document complying with particularly high safety standards even when automatic evaluation methods are used. For this purpose, each electroluminescent pigment (19) comprises a pigment core (20) made of an electroluminescent material enclosed by an active optical layer (24).
