Abstract

Sliding sash lock comprises at least two locking bars (18) and a gear (38, 44). The locking bars are pre-tensioned for automatic movement from their open position into their locking position. The sliding sash lock has a locking element (72) moving between a locking position and a release position. In its locking position the locking element prevents movement of the locking bar from a locking position, in which it engages in an opening in the sash connecting element, into the open position, and in its release position allows movement of the locking bar from the locking position into the open position. Preferred Features: The locking bars are pre-tensioned in their locking position by the elastic restoring force of at least one restoring spring element (64). The locking element is coupled to a key-operated lock unit (78).
