Die Zunge 8 hat einen Kopf ii, welcher die Form eines Löffels hat, wie in Abb. 3, q. und 5 gezeigt ist. Wenn die Zunge geschlossen ist, liegt die Vertiefung 12 des löffelartigen Kopfes i i gegen die Außenseite des Spitzenteiles des Hakens 3. Der Kopf der Zunge ist in seinem mittleren Teil ungefähr von gleicher Breite wie der Spitzenteil des Hakens. Der Kopf der Zunge hat solche Abmessungen, daß sein Ende ein kurzes Stück über den Berührungspunkt der Hakenspitze mit der Fläche 12 der Zunge vorspringt, so daß das Ende des Zungenkopfes in einem geringen Abstande von dem Haken steht. Die obere Fläche 13 der Zunge verläuft geradlinig und läuft in die obere Fläche des Kopfes i i über, wie aus Abb. 2 ersichtlich. Der Schaft 9 der Zunge 8 ist flach und von solcher Dicke, daß er bequem in den Schlitz 7 eingreifen kann, durch welchen er gegen jede seitliche Bewegung gehälten wird. Von einem Punkte unmittelbar ".in der Nähe des hinteren Endes des Kopfes 1.1 ' nimmt die Zunge bzw. der Zungenschaft nach ; seinem freien Ende und nach der Fläche 13 hin allmählich an Stärke zu. :Die Kante-rd., des Zungenschaftes verläuft geneigt zur Kante 13 der Zunge; -die Kante 14. und die Kante 13 laufen nach hinten auseinander, so daß auf der Innenseite der Zunge eine vorspringende Nase 15 entsteht, welche in einem stumpfen Winkel zu der Fläche 12 des Zungenkopfes verläuft und an -ihrem unteren Ende bei 16 abgerundet ist. Durch die weitere Rückwärtsbewegung der Nadel wird der Faden b durch die Masche a gezogen, vodurch dieser zu einer Masche gelegt wird (Abb. g). Alsdann wird die Nadel wieder nach vorn bewegt. Hierbei stößt der Faden der Masche b gegen die Nase 15 der Zunge und gleitet über deren Abrundung 16, wodurch die Zunge 8 augenblicklich geöffnet wird, ehe sie.ganz in das Gewirke eingedrungen ist.
