Description

Process for the production of hard rubber-like wet # from acetyl cellulose It is known that hard rubber-like masses made from water-containing cellulose derivatives without Addition of alcohol or other solvents with a larger amount of gelling agent, than is necessary to gelatinize the cellulose derivatives in question, under Manufacture addition of significant amounts of organic or inorganic fillers. The products manufactured according to such a process are proportionate soft and pliable products that are practical e.g. B. not as a substitute for hard rubber come into question.

The invention is based on the new observation that one when processing water-containing acetyl cellulose even without using one Filler to produce absolutely hard products that are quite similar to hard rubber can, if you use smaller amounts of plasticizers than usual is common, works. This effect was by no means foreseeable. The water apparently acts as a medium between plasticizers and acetyl cellulose, that an excellent processing possibility of the acetyl cellulose also with extraordinary causes small amounts of plasticizers. While it is with dry acetyl cellulose under these conditions even with the longest and hottest processing on the roller it is impossible to plasticize the material completely and homogeneously, on the contrary ungelatinized parts are always left behind, this succeeds when using water-based Acetyl cellulose in the shortest possible time without any difficulty.

Embodiment A mixture of 50o g water and 7509 dry acetyl cellulose is mixed with 250 g triazetine in a kneading machine and then plasticized on hot rollers. After cooling, a hard elastic mass is obtained, the quality of which is quite similar to hard rubber.
