Es wurde gefunden, daß die aus Phenylbenzanthronen und Aluminiumchlorid erhältlichen Kondensationsprodukte sich in wertvolle Küpenfarbstoffe überführen lassen, wenn man sie mit Ätzalkalien oder ähnlich wirkenden Mitteln, wie Natriumamid, Anilinkalium usw., verschmilzt. Die Körper liegen in der Schmelze als Leukoform vor, die sich beim Kochen mit Wasser an der Luft oxydiert.
