Description

Electric collector battery with bipolar electrodes. The bipolar Electrodes were usually combined into a battery in such a way that they, under Interposition of insulating rings a. Like., placed between two rigid end plates which were connected to one another by bolts and brought closer to one another by nuts where the electrodes and insulating rings were firmly pressed against one another. According to the invention, the electrodes and insulating rings are tightly combined in that they are brought into the interior of a lying cylindrical vessel and be pressed tightly together by screwing down the lid. Through this Design avoids protruding parts of the earlier and also protects the electrodes and insulating rings better against mechanical damage. It. are batteries too known whose bipolar electrodes are enclosed in a cylindrical vessel, However, these batteries cannot be dismantled because the electrodes are attached to the walls of the The vessel are glued.

The drawing shows schematically an embodiment of the battery in a vertical longitudinal section. a is the lying cylindrical vessel with the bottom b, which, with the exception of the bottom, is lined with the insulating claw c and has the internal thread d. The cover e is screwed into the latter. This has an opening j 'in the middle and two recesses g for the socket wrench. h are the insulating rings, which have filling openings at the top, which are opened by screws! be locked. The filling openings of the insulating rings naturally also correspond to openings in the vessel wall and its lining. h are the bipolar electrodes, 1, and 12 are the end electrodes, one of which, 1i, is in contact with the bottom of the vessel, while the other, 12, is separated from the lid by an insulating plate. The latter end electrode is provided with one current lead n, the vessel wall forms the other pole. Of course, one can also isolate the end electrode 1. from the bottom of the vessel and divert the current from it in the same way as from l2.
