Description

Process for the production of compact, technically useful aluminum hydroxide. I? S became known through the patent 201 893. that according to the rule of R i n m a n Aluminum substrate from the decomposition of ammonium alum or aluminum sulphate by means of gaseous ammonia or ammonia dissolved in water, that works with gaseous ammonia because of the slow penetration of the ammonia into the granular alum certain disadvantages, while when working with -, aqueous ammonia, in that parts of the alum or aluminum sulfate go into solution, in the Precipitation from the solution a gelatinous aluminum hydrate is easily obtained, which cannot be processed and cleaned technically and therefore "-drained" must, whereby more or less large losses arise.

(l. Chem. These disadvantages can be avoided if you prevent z. B. the alum goes into solution by decomposing the alum with an aqueous ammonia solution previously saturated with ammonium sulfate. The solubility of alum in water is considerably greater than in concentrated ammonium sulfate solution; According to P oggia it is 1 e (note de Chim. et de Phys. 8 [18431 p. 467) (,, 57 g in 100 cm3 at 20 ° C, while according to the investigations by Rüdorff (Ber. ( 1. Chem. Ges. 18 p. 1 59 ff.) the solubility of AVSO4) 3 at 185 ° in 100 cm3 saturated ammonium sulfate solution is 0.29 g and accordingly the solubility of ammonium alum in saturated ammonium sulfate solution is 0.77 g It is clear that the less gelatinous, technically unusable aluminum hydroxide is formed, the less aluminum hydrate: I dissolves and is then precipitated. Precipitation must take place before the alum dissolves.

The following information is used as an example: Strong ammonia solution is saturated with ammonium sulfate and add alum while stirring; you can do the alum too Pour the ammoniacal ammonium sulfate solution over it. In both cases stir one around and ensures that the solution remains ammoniacal. Through this arrangement the aluminum hydrate precipitates before it can go into solution as sulfate. The extraction is therefore not carried out in a gelatinous, but in a compact, light form washable and technically usable form. By washing up with ammonia solution the aluminum hydrate is made sulfate-free in the filter.
