Description

Aluminium-Wickelkondensator. Aluminum wound capacitor. So far, most of the capacitors were made of tin foil and thin paper for telephony and telegraphy by that tinfoil and paper rolled up into a roll and this in a vacuum with paraffin was cooked. Attempts were made to use wound capacitors instead of tin foil to apply the cheaper aluminum foil. However, this has compared to the tin foil the disadvantage that it is plastic to a far lesser extent than that. Well be but the winding after cooking in the mass forming the additional dielectric, the z. B. made of paraffin or resins with small additions of wax, oil, rubber o. Like. Is, strongly compressed, so that the originally round winding the shape of a perfectly flat body. This gives the metal band strong curvatures and, due to its elasticity, endeavors to recapture its original shape. In the case of the wound capacitors that have become known up to now, the above-mentioned was able to do so Additional dielectric does not give the aluminum coil sufficient dimensional stability. This expanded more and more as a result of the internal tensions, shattered under Circumstances even the cup surrounding it and was, as doing so, its capacity diminished, unusable.

In the following a capacitor made of aluminum foil is described, who does not have the above-mentioned drawback of a decline in capacity. The capacitor winding is made in exactly the same way as usual, only a mixture is used instead of paraffin made of rosin and paraffin, and it has been found that one Mixture of approximately equal parts by weight is the cheapest. The aluminum wrap is just like the pewter roll in the kettle that contains the paraffin-rosin mixture contains, heated under vacuum until all traces of water are removed. Of the After cooling, the wrap is so firm that it is as hard as wood and also as a result its internal strength no longer decreases in capacity as the mixture does Rosin paraffin, paper and aluminum foil reliably sticks together. This Capacitor also has the manufacturing advantage that the winding is not so need to be installed quickly in the cups, but lie for any length of time can stay without declining in capacity. Another benefit lies nor in the fact that the capacitor is resistant to higher temperatures is because the rosin-paraffin mixture has a far higher softening melting point has as paraffin alone.
