Description

Process for the purification of alkaline, by degradation products of cellulose contaminated alkalis. Alkaline waste liquors containing degradation products of cellulose can be cleaned by thickening in open vessels with simultaneous oxidation. The organic components are excreted or charred. It is further known to purify such alkalis by using them to excrete the organic substance without heat supply with hydrogen peroxide, ozone or peroxides the metals of the alkalis or alkaline earths in the presence of metallic catalysts, like copper and lead.

As has now been found, those with degradation products of cellulose contaminated alkalis, such as. B. those of the viscose production, thereby clean and give another answer that they should be kept at ordinary temperature with sodium hypochlorite in the presence of a catalyst such as copper, iron, lead and the like. Air is expediently swirled through the lye and vigorously touched. The mode of action of the hypochlorite was all the less predictable than known to be the hypochlorous acid salts in the presence of copper or copper compounds instantly decompose or disintegrate. Instead of using ready-made hypochlorite, you can do it in any suitable way during the cleaning process let arise in the lye.

It is known that alkalis contaminated by organic bodies to be cleaned by treating them with chlorine-oxygen compounds under pressure and at elevated temperature treated in the presence of catalysts. This way of working contrasts the present process represents the significant technical advance, at 'ordinary Temperature and to be carried out without the application of pressure. The new procedure is characterized by great simplicity and cheapness. The latige is after the Treatment completely pure and can be used again. Example. In one open iron container in which there are copper shavings or plates r ooo 1 waste sodium hydroxide solution with 30 liters of sodium pochlorite lye for about 2 hours with normal Vigorously stirred temperature or swirled with air. The cellulose derivatives fall as flaky or slimy pale that in the Hutsche or filter press of the completely clear and colorless liquor is separated.
