Abstract

A process for the prodn. of syntactic in-situ foam (I) comprises wetting particles of foam (II) with an adhesive matrix (III) and water.Pref. (II) consists of spherical particles of pre-expanded polystyrene, polyolefin or other foamed material, opt. shredded scrap foam parts. The foam particles are pre-dried, ensiled and wetted with the hydrophilic matrix resin, pref. in an air drier-silo fitted with a stirrer, after which the wetted material is pref. dried and stored a dew pt. of about -70 deg.C. The prod. is removed from the silo by suction and transported to the point of use by suction or compressed air, pref. while spraying with water. The water required for reaction on site is supplied as vapour or mist.

Nach Hinzufügen von ca. 100 GT hydrophilem PU-Matrixharz auf 100 GT Schaumpartikel wird die Masse intensiv vermischt und steht bei einer Lagerzeit von mehreren Tagen zum Verbrauch bereit. Bei Anforderung wird eine benötigte Menge über ein Ausgangsrohr entnommen und mittels Saug- oder Druckluft an den Verbrauchsort befördert und dort durch die einwirkende Kraft der Luft leicht verdichtet. Auf dem Wege zum Verbrauchort wird den matrixbenetzten Schaumteilen Wasser in ungefähr der gleichen Menge der Matrix aufgedüst.
