Bei der Herstellung reiner konzentrierter Salpetersäure war es bisher üblich, rohe konzentrierte Salpetersäure, die höher als Salpetersäure siedende Bestandteile enthielt, z. B. Beimengungen der als Konzentrationsmittel benutzten Schwefelsäure oder andere höhersiedende Anteile, unter besonderen Vorsichtsmaßregeln abzudestillieren und wieder zu kondensieren.Production of pure concentrated nitric acid. In der zum Waschen benutzten Salpetersäure werden in erster Linie die höhersiedenden Anteile des Dampfes kondensiert und zurückgehalten. Man kann so bei genügend intensiver Waschung in einem Arbeitsgang unmittelbar zu praktisch reiner konzentrierter Salpetersäure gelangen. Sofern der so behandelten Salpetersäure noch Stickoxyde beigemengt sind, kann man diese, wie auch bei sonstiger nitrosehaltiger Salpetersäure, z. B. in der Weise entfernen, daß man das noch heiße Kondensat mit entgegenströmendem reinen Salpetersäuredampf in einer geeigneten Vorrichtung, z. B. einem mit Raschigringen gefüllten, mit einem Räckflußkühler verbundenen Rieselturm, ausbläst.
