Description

Verfahren zur Herstellung eines ähnlich dem Schweißeisen weitgehend desoxydierten Eisens oder Stahls. Beim Vergießen von flüssigem Stahl in Kokillen bedient man sich zu ihrem Abschluß am unteren Ende gußeiserner Platten, sogenannter Unterlagen. Bei sehr heißem Guß kommt es vor, daß die Blöcke mit den Unterlagen verschweißen, so daß der Kran sie schwer oder gar nicht abheben kann. Bisher suchte man diesen Übelstand zu vermeiden entweder durch Ausmauerung der Unterlage mit feuerfesten Steinen oder durch Bestreichen mit sogenannter Schwarzseher Masse, bestehend aus Teer, Quarz und ähnlichen Bestandteilen, die feuerfest sind und verdampfen und dadurch eine gewisse Kühlung hervorrufen. Beide Verfahren haben Nachteile. Die L?bermauerung mit feuerfesten Steinen verursacht Arbeit und birgt die Gefahr in sich, daß der Stahl verunreinigt wird. Das Anstreichen ist in der heißen Gießgrube lästig, und die Masse ist kostspielig. Bei der weiteren Ausbildung des Verfahrens nach Patent 3999o6 hat sich nun ergeben, daß die Blöcke sich dann leicht von den Unterlagen abheben ließen, wenn die Schlacke in fester Form vor dem Guß auf den Boden der Kokille geschüttet wurde. Diese Erscheinung ist leicht erklärlich, weil die Schlacke gelöst werden muß, die Herabsetzung der Temperatur, die hierdurch bedingt wird, die Unterlage vor der unmittelbaren* Einwirkung des einfallenden Stahls schützt.Process for the production of a similar to the welding iron largely deoxidized iron or steel.
