Abstract

Die Abgase des Dieselmotors (1) werden zunächst in einen Gas­ kühler (2) geleitet, wo sie von ca. 600°C auf eine Temperatur, die zwischen 80°C und ca. 250°C liegt, abgekühlt werden. Die Abkühlung ist notwendig, weil ohne diese die Waschflüssigkeit durch das heiße Abgas zu stark aufgeheizt würde. Als Wasch­ flüssigkeiten kommen in Frage: Wasser, dünnflüssige Mineralöle oder Flüssigkeiten, deren Zusammensetzung die Kohlenstoff­ partikel chemisch bindet. Nachdem das Gas den Kühler passiert hat, gelangt es über eine Rohrleitung in den Filterbehälter (3). Dieser ist ein aufrecht stehendes zylindrisches Gefäß, das zum größten Teil mit Filterflüssigkeit (4) gefüllt ist. Das ruß­ haltige Gas wird an der Unterseite des Behälters in die Filter­ flüssigkeit geleitet und durchströmt diese von unten nach oben, wobei die Rußpartikel ausgewaschen werden. Sie sammeln sich im Bodenteil (5) des Filterbehälters als schlammige Ablagerung. Der Bodenteil ist abnehmbar, so daß er von Zeit zu Zeit gerei­ nigt werden kann. Ein trichterförmiger Verteiler (6), der auf seiner Oberseite mit einer großen Zahl von feinen Öffnungen versehen ist, sorgt dafür, daß das Abgas möglichst gleichmäßig über den größten Teil des Behälterquerschnitts verteilt wird.
