Abstract

A valve control system for a hydraulic pipe isolator has a main control valve coupled to a pilot stage that contains a comparator stage that monitor pressures. The pilot valve has a housing with two pressure chambers, one of which connects with the inlet to the main valve and the outlet side. The pilot valve has spool that has control ports that regulate the pressure applied to adjust the main valve. The spool is coupled to a piston that formed the basis of a pressure comparator. Each side of the piston is isolated by a diaphragm.
