Abstract

The lifting device has a hydraulically-operated lifting mechanism (46) on the chassis, and an adaptor frame (2) for attachment to mechanism and container. The adaptor frame includes securing members (12, 22) co-operating with corner fittings (52, 54) of the container. A pair of laterally-spaced support surfaces (34) provide means of locating the device to chassis of the vehicle. The surfaces are pivotal and extend transversely along the chassis, spaced apart by distance equal to the width of the container. This allows the front of the container to be secured, while on the ground, and drawn upwardly until it engages the lower side regions of the container.
