Die Erfindung geht von der Tatsache aus, daßKieselsäure und kieselsaure Verbindungen durch Wasserdampf bei genügend hohen Temperaturen und Dannpfdrudc und genügend langer Einwirkung nicht nur teilweise zur Ouellung, sondern sogar zur völligen (kolloidalen) Lösung gebracht werden können, wobei sich eine mehr oder weniger dickflüssige Gallerte bildet. Durch Wasserentziehung infolge Verdunstung oder durch Behandlung mit Wasser entziehenden Stoffen (z. B. Alkohol, Azeton), durch Behandlung mit konzentrierten Lösungen, quellungshemmender Salze (z. B. Alaun, Tonerdesulfat und Sulfate überhaupt) oder durch Gerbmittel (z. B.
