Als ganz besonders vorteilhaft hat sich der Zusatz von Superoxyden, wie Mangansuperoxyd, Natriumsuperoxyd, Bariumsuperoxyd, erwiesen. Man kann auch sauerstoffabgebende Mischungen verwenden. Ebenso kann man auch Mischungen von Oxyden und Superoxyden benutzen. Ferner können noch Stoffe zugesetzt werden, welche die katalytische Sauerstoffübertragung beschleunigen, wie Tierkohle, Zuckerkohle, Eisenfeilspäne.
