Description
Process for the preparation of resin-like products from nuclear methylated Phenols. By patent 355173 is a method for the preparation of resinous Protected products from nuclear methylated phenols, which consists in that one Cresols, their chlorine substitution products or other nuclear methylated phenols Treated temperatures above 100 ° with chlorine until only a little with water vapor volatile constituents are present and the residue turns into an amorphous, solid mass solidified. It has now been found that very similar resins can be obtained even if the chlorine first contributes to the phenol homologues mentioned normal or slightly elevated temperature can act and the resulting crystallizable or oily nuclear chlorinated compounds of a subsequent Heating to temperatures above 100 °, if appropriate under reduced pressure, is subjected.
Beispiel. Example. 200 parts of technically pure cresol are made without external heating mouth chlorinated until a weight increase of 28o to 300 parts has occurred is. The reaction product is heated to 160 °, expediently under reduced pressure, where salt acid is split off. About d.oo parts of a brown, hard one are obtained Hanzes. Which is soluble in benzene hydrocarbons, in alcohol and dilute alkalis is insoluble.
