Die nach Art einer handelsüblichen Synchronisierkupplung aufgebaute Zahnkupplung besteht aus einem, auf der einen Hohlwelle 6 festen Zahnrad 21, einem auf der zweiten Hohlwelle 7 befestigten Zahnrad 22 sowie einer zum Kuppeln in beide Zahnräder 21, 22 einrückbaren, verzahnten Schiebemuffe 23. Die Zahnkupplung 20 liegt zwischen einem in der Lagerplatte 17 angeordneten Kegelrollenlager 24 der einen Hohlwelle 6 und einem, in dem Kupplungsgehäuse 18 angebrachten Kegelrollenlager 25 für die andere Hohlwelle 7. Am anderen Ende ist die Hohlwelle 6 in dem Zwischengehäuse 16, die Hohlwelle 7 in der Bodenplatte der Gehäuseglocke 19 gelagert. So entsteht ein kompakter Lagerverbund für die beiden relativ kurzen Hohlwellen 6 und 7 sowie die zwischen angeordnete Zahnkupplung 20.
