Description
Gerbverfahren. Tanning process. In the patent specification 334004 the knowledge is expressed, that solutions of trivalent iron can then be used in an excellent way for tanning suitable if they contain as little colloidally dissolved iron hydroxide as possible. In particular is there also stated that one can meet this condition by establishing a sufficient Acid concentration in the tanning liquor can be sufficient. It has now been found that a leather with particularly good properties is obtained with a shorter tanning time, if the tanning is carried out in an acidic solution. Also in this embodiment of the process it may prove expedient, at the same time other tanning or substances promoting tanning, e.g. B. Formaldiehyd, formaldehyde condensation products or to add sulfite cellulose extract.
Stunden.Examples: i. 100 kg of pickled pelts are drummed for 4 hours at -o ° in a tanning liquor containing 7.5 kg of calcined ferric sulfate, 4 kg of sodium formic acid and 0.5 kg of formic acid in 100 liters of water. Then 0.1 to 0.2 kg of soda, dissolved in water, is added while the drum is running and drummed for another 4 hours.
A tanning liquor made from 100 l of water, 7.5 kg of calcined ferric sulfate, .4 kg of sodium formic acid , 0.5 kg of formic acid, 2 kg of formaldehyde, 3 percent strength, and 41 cg of sulfite cellulose extract is used, and the procedure is otherwise as given in Example i.
