Abstract

The bed is designed to provide complete support to the spinal column and has a rectangular frame with end members (41,42) and side members (40). Each side member has a row of holes to receive an adjusting screw (45) and nut (46). Each adjusting screw and nut supports one end of a transversely mounted batten (50). The battens support a flexible mattress (55) and the screws enable each batten to be individually adjusted for height. The longitudinal contour of the mattress can thus be made to conform to the shape of the user's spinal column.
