Abstract

The invention relates to a method for determining glycosylated haemoglobin in blood samples, glycosylated and non-glycosylated haemoglobin first being released from the erythrocytes, the haemoglobin being converted, if appropriate, into methaemoglobin and a differentiation of glycosylated and non-glycosylated haemoglobin then being carried out by means of haptoglobin. Before the differentiation of glycosylated and non-glycosylated haemoglobin by means of haptoglobin, one or more substances, which effect a change in conformation in the glycosylated and/or non-glycosylated haemoglobin, are advantageously added to the blood sample. Such substances are compounds having a binding action on the allosteric effector site of the haemoglobin, and also haeme-binding ligands. A further subject of the invention is a reagent for carrying out the method according to the invention and a reagent for differentiating glycosylated and non-glycosylated haemoglobin.
