Description
KAISERLICHES,IMPERIAL,
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
As has been established by the inventor, the sulphite liquor contains sulphonic acid salts which The so-called lignosulfonic acid salts are insoluble in saturated saline solution. These are obtained from the sulphite waste liquor by adding table salt to saturation and heated to 40 to 50 °, the salts as a light gray flaky precipitate fail. This precipitate, expediently from the. Solution by filtering and Subsequent washing with saturated saline is separated after containing usual work-up still about 50 percent water. To · turn it into a dry product one cannot simply use the usual drying processes in the heat, not even under vacuum, because the lignin sulfonic acid salts do at a temperature of 50 to 60 ° undergo changes by its originally light gray color changes and their condition becomes resinous.
The invention relates to this To eliminate the disadvantage and also the complete drying of the water-containing product to allow at a higher temperature without a special division is necessary.
The changes which the lignosulfonic acid salts, as indicated above, occur on drying are, as has been found, dependent on that from the sulphite waste liquor precipitated lignosulfonic acid salts contain free acid. These free acids can alone are not completely removed by repeated washing with saturated saline solution; but they are removed according to the present process in that the precipitated Salts with saturated saline solution, which is a free alkali, e.g. B. Soda, Sodium Hydrate, contains, be washed. After the usual mechanical possible dewatering of the The salts are present in such a form that they do not change at high mass Temperature dried and can be stored in a dried state. That Process can also be carried out with other suitable detergents containing a free alkali, z. B. alcohol.
The salts of lignin sulfonic acid, e.g. B. the potassium, sodium or calcium salt are soluble in water, alkali and dilute acids, but insoluble in saturated saline solution and alcohol.
The salts serve as starting materials for the production of dyes and nitro compounds.
