Safety hammer holder

The invention relates to a device for holding a hammer.

Craftsmen, especially carpenters, scaffolders and the like, regularly need a hammer for their work. When not in use, this hammer must be placed in a hammer holder that is worn on the body, usually on the belt. It is necessary that the hammer can be easily picked up and removed from the holder, but that it is prevented from accidentally falling out of the holder.

The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a device for holding a hammer, in which the hammer can be secured against falling out

According to the invention, the object is achieved by a device for picking up a hammer, characterized by a bearing (6) attached to the web (2), a pivot axis (4) resting in the bearing (6) and pivotable through 90° between a working position and a safety position, which axis is bent through 90° when it exits the bearing, a pin (7) which is pressed into the axis (4) and rests positively in a groove in the bearing (6), an actuating button (5) which is attached to the axis (4), a spiral spring which is supported in the bearing (6) and on the actuating button (5), a bracket (1) attached to the web (2), the opening of which allows the handle of the hammer to be picked up to be pushed through.

The subclaims specify preferred embodiments of the invention.

The invention is explained below with reference to a drawing.

The only figure shows a perspective view of such a device.

The device consists of a web (2) to which a bracket (1) is attached at the lower end. The bracket has an opening large enough to allow the hammer handle to pass through. A bearing (6) is attached vertically to the side of the web (2), through which an axle (4) passes. This axle is bent by 90° shortly after it exits the bearing. At the other end of the axle there is an actuating button (5) which holds a spiral spring (8) which is supported in the bearing (6) and pushes the axle (4) up. This is limited by a pin (7) which is pressed laterally into the axle (4) and rests in a recess with a bevel (6a) in the lower front side of the bearing (6). A groove (6b) is machined into the front side of the bearing (6) and is offset by 90°.

The bar (2) is riveted onto a leather strip (10) which is provided with belt slots (9).

During use, the belt of the user's work trousers is passed through the belt slots (9) so that the device rests against the outside of one of the user's thighs.

The hammer, which the device is designed to hold, is inserted into the holder with the handle pointing downwards so that the head of the hammer rests on the bracket (1) and the handle points downwards. In this position, the hammer can be removed from the holder upwards, parallel to the web (2).

If the user does not want to remove the hammer from the holder for a longer period of time, he activates the device .

In order to reach a secured state, the axle (4) is pivoted by 90° by applying light pressure to the axle end (4a). The pin (7) slides up the slope in the recess (6a), pulls the axle (4) down slightly against the force of the spiral spring (8) and engages in the groove (4b) after pivoting by 90°.

In this position, it is not possible to remove the hammer from the holder (or to prevent it from accidentally falling out), since the bent axle end (4a) is immobile above the hammer head and thus prevents the hammer from moving away parallel to the web (2).

To unlock the device, the user presses the actuating button (5) with their thumb, which presses the axle (4) down against the spring force of the spiral spring (8) and thus lifts the pin (7) out of the groove (6b). The user can now swing the end of the axle (4a) back over the slope of the recess (6a) with light pressure from their index finger. When the actuating button (5) is released, the pin (7) sits on the slope and is pulled down the slope into the unsecured position by the force of the spiral spring (8).

Device for carrying a hammer in the body area via a belt or on work clothing, wherein a loop-like holder with an associated safety device is arranged, characterized in that a holding element (2 in Fig. 1) carries the holder (1 in Fig. 1) for an insertable hammer handle and above a hammer head a pivotable safety element (4 in Fig. 1) is arranged as an adjustable counter bearing (4 in Fig. 1) to prevent it from falling out. 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the securing element (4 in Fig. 1) is designed as an angle and one leg is designed for pivotable mounting and another leg is designed as a counter bearing for the hammer inserted into the receptacle (1 in Fig. 1). 3. Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the securing element (4 in Fig. 1) is held in the rest position via a spring (8 in Fig. 3) and in the securing position via corresponding locking elements (6a in Fig. 2, 6b in Fig. 1, 7 in Fig. 3).
