Device for protecting, locating and monitoring people and animals

The invention relates to a device for locating and monitoring people and animals, as well as for immediately alerting the police in the event of danger to life and limb.

There is a great need in many ways to protect certain people, groups of people or animals by determining their location.

The means used so far are highly inadequate. For example, children are abducted and abused on their way to school without any possibility of making other people aware of themselves and their situation.

Elderly and senile people get lost and are searched for by the police or radio using mostly inaccurate descriptions or other inadequate measures.

Lost pets are usually searched for using notes stuck to lampposts or trees.

People who have been attacked or abused can only draw attention to themselves and their situation by calling for help or using sound devices with a limited range. Often, passers-by are unable or unwilling to help the victim. Many victims are also outside of residential areas or out of earshot.

In view of this complex problem, the invention is based on the object of providing a device that enables location, personal identification and monitoring while simultaneously alerting the police or other emergency services.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the features specified in the characterizing part of the main claim, whereby reference is made to the features of the subclaims with regard to preferred embodiments.

The device according to the invention is characterized by a housing in which a receiver (e.g. GPS Global Positioning System), a transmitter (e.g. GSM Global System for Mobile Communication) and a power source are located.
The expert has additional transmitting and receiving equipment at his disposal for this purpose.

Furthermore, a micro-chip can be integrated into the housing of the device, on which a "free space" (area of action that the person should not leave) is stored. The micro-chip compares the position data of the GPS satellite with the registered "free space". If the person or animal leaves this "free space", the transmitter is activated and an alarm is triggered.

A micro-controller is located either in the device or in the receiving station. If the micro-controller is in the receiving station, the position data of the GPS receiver is sent from the transmitter to the receiving station and evaluated there.

According to a preferred embodiment, an alarm button can be attached to the device, which switches on an additional microphone and uses the transmitter to send all noises and conversations from the vicinity of the device to a receiving station. By listening to these noises, it can then be determined whether it is just a false alarm or a real emergency. The receiving station can then immediately notify the nearest police station if necessary.

With this device, for example, children who are kidnapped from their "free space" can be located immediately, during the kidnapping, using the position data sent by the GPS receiver and the location can be reported to the responsible police station with current and precise details.

People or animals that get lost can also be found quickly using the transmitted position data.

Regarding the structure of the device, reference should first be made to Figure 1.

Inside a housing (10) there is a receiver (11), a transmitter (12) and a power source (16).

The device is provided with an alarm button (13) to trigger an alarm at the receiving station in case of danger.

A built-in microphone (15) is used to transmit noises and conversations from the area around the device. This microphone is activated when the "free space" is left or when the alarm button (13) is pressed.

The design of Figure 2 is merely exemplary.

The design of the housing (10) is not subject to any restrictions. It can have the shape of various everyday objects, such as a watch, jewelry, key chain, cigarette pack, lighter, ballpoint pen, perfume bottle or lipstick. The device can also be inserted into clothing or shoes. The device can also be implanted under the skin or used as a tooth filling.

As an option, a micro-chip (17) can be programmed with a "free space" and integrated into the device. A micro-controller (14) can be located either in the housing or in the receiving station. An alarm button (13) can activate a microphone (15) in addition to the alarm.

If the receiving station is located in the parents' house, for example, the device can also be used to transmit voice messages from the device to the recipient.

Here, too, the expert has further possible applications and device variants available.

The possible applications of the device may include the following areas, which, however, are only examples and are not intended to be an exhaustive representation.

a) Tracking and rescuing abducted persons

b) Localization of lost people

c) Monitoring and protection of persons at risk of kidnapping (politicians, industrialists

d) Monitoring of certain criminal persons (day-release prisoners, sex offenders, etc.)

e) Alerting the police in case of danger to life and limb

h) Monitoring of animal habitats (migratory behaviour, migratory birds, etc.)

Claims (7)

-4- Protection claims 1.) Device for protecting, locating and monitoring people and animals, characterized by a housing (10) in which a receiver (e.g. GPS - Global Positioning System) (11), a transmitter (e.g. GSM - Global System for Mobile Communication) (12) and a power source (16) are arranged. 2.) Device according to claim 1, characterized in that an additional alarm button (13) is mounted within the housing (10), which triggers an alarm in a receiving station directly via the transmitter. 3.) Device according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that an additional micro-controller (14) registers the departure from previously defined "free spaces" stored on a micro-chip (17) and then triggers an alarm at a receiving station via the transmitter. The micro-controller can be located in the device or in the receiving station. 4.) Device according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that an additionally installed microphone (15) records conversations and noises when leaving "free spaces" or when the alarm button (13) is pressed and sends them to the receiving station by means of a transmitter (12). 5.)
