Bücher (und zunehmend auch bespielte Videocassetten) stellen ein sehr beliebtes Geschenk zu einer großen Vielfalt von Anlässen dar. In der Regel werden Geschenke persönlich überreicht und hierfür in eine angemessene Umhüllung verpackt, die in der Regel aus einem dem Geschenkanlaß entsprechenden mehr- oder einfarbig bedruckten Papier besteht. Die Erfindung betrifft eine Faltverpackung aus Karton oder ähnlichen Materialien, geeignet insbesondere für Bücher oder andere quaderförmige Gegenstände, bestehend aus einem einstückigen Zuschnitt, das eine rechteckige Grundfläche aufweist, an die sich vier Seitenflächen anschließen, die zur Bildung der Verpackung um jeweils mindestens zwei Falzlinien faltbar sind und wovon sich mindestens zwei sich gegenüberliegende Seitenflächen durch einen geeigneten Mechanismus miteinander so verbinden lassen, daß sie sich nicht von selbst wieder voneinander lösen können. Eine mögliche Ausgestaltung des Schließmechanismus ermöglicht, wie in Figur 1 gezeigt, ein problemloses mehrmaliges öffnen und verschließen. Die so entstehende Verpackung zeichnet sich dadurch aus, daß sie quaderförmige Gegenstände, insbesondere Bücher, eines beliebigen Formats bis zu maximal den Abmessungen der Grundfläche und einer maximalen Dicke, die sich aus der Anzahl und dem Abstand der an den Seitenflächen vorgesehenen Stanzlinien und der Länge der Seitenflächen ergibt, derart umschließt, daß der Inhalt nicht in der Verpackung umherrutschen kann und ein Schutz des Inhalts gewährleistet ist.
