Folding box with insertable information carrier and/or decorative element

The invention relates to a folding box made of corrugated cardboard, carton or the like for packaging goods, in particular as gift packaging, wherein at least one wall is designed as a decorative wall that can be provided with an insertable information carrier and/or decorative element or the like.

Folding boxes are used in a wide variety of designs as gift packaging. At least one wall has details and information printed on it about the contents of the packaging and possibly about the occasion for which the gift is to be used (e.g. as a Christmas present). Since for occasions such as Christmas, Easter or similar, only a relatively small number of special packaging prints may be required in comparison to the total turnover and individual printing of the folding boxes involves a disproportionately high (cost) outlay, folding boxes are already known in which an information carrier and/or decorative element can be inserted between an outer wall of the folding box and a transparent plastic film surrounding the folding box. For example, sheets printed with product information can be used as information carriers and prints or photos can be used as decorative elements. Such a folding box can be adapted to a wide variety of requirements thanks to the insertable information carriers and/or decorative elements.

The possibility of inserting information carriers or decorative elements means that standard packaging can be subsequently redesigned in its appearance for a specific purpose, such as the Christmas campaign mentioned above or other individual occasions. The disadvantage of such a folding box, however, is that a plastic film is required as a separate fastening means for the information carrier or the decorative element, which cannot be disposed of together with the folding box made of corrugated cardboard, cardboard or similar. The insert can also be easily removed or the wrapping damaged. If the plastic film is destroyed, the folding box can no longer be used as intended. To open the familiar folding box, the film must be removed. But then the information carrier or the decorative element is loose and can no longer be fastened.

It is also already known to stick the information carrier or the decorative element onto the outside of the decorative wall of the folding box, which can also be done subsequently. In this way, the information carrier is prevented from falling if the folding box is damaged or when the folding box is opened, and it is also possible to fill the folding box with goods later.

However, the production of such a folding box is complex due to the additional gluing process, whereby the information carrier or the decorative element must also be aligned exactly with the decorative wall in order to achieve a satisfactory appearance. If the decorative element is made of a different material than the folding box, e.g. because a printed film is used for the decorative element, the adhesive must be removed again before the folding box and the decorative element can be recycled separately.

The object of the present invention is therefore to create a folding box of the type mentioned at the outset, to which an information carrier and/or a decorative element or the like can be attached in an exchangeable manner in a simple manner.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that a surface piece is cut out of the decorative wall of the folding box to form a passepartout edge and in that the side of the decorative wall facing the inside of the box is assigned a receiving wall which, together with the decorative wall, forms an insertion pocket for receiving the information carrier and/or decorative element or the like.

This means that an information carrier and/or a decorative element can be attached to the folding box by simply inserting it into the pocket on the inside of the decorative wall so that it is visible from the outside through the opening created by the removed surface. The information carrier or decorative element is both framed by the passepartout edge and pressed against the receiving wall. At the same time, the passepartout edge protects the information carrier and/or decorative element from damage. When the folding box is opened, the information carrier or decorative element or the like cannot fall out. Due to the insertable and thus exchangeable information carriers and/or decorative elements or the like, a folding box according to the invention can be easily adapted to a wide variety of uses, whereby the actual folding box remains unchanged and can therefore be produced cost-effectively in large quantities.

According to a particularly simple embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the receiving wall is made in one piece from corrugated cardboard,

Cardboard or similar and glued to the inside of the passepartout edge. This makes it particularly easy to create the pocket for the information carrier and/or the decorative element.

According to a further embodiment of the invention, the insert pocket can be manufactured in a simple manner such that the receiving wall is formed by a box section hinged to the decorative wall, which can be bent over to the inside of the decorative wall and fastened there. This ensures quick and secure alignment of the receiving wall in relation to the decorative wall.

In a further development of this inventive concept, it is provided that a semicircular incision is provided in the receiving wall to form a closure flap, the bending line of which coincides with the articulation edge of the receiving wall, which is also designed as a bending line, and that the closure flap can be inserted into the wall of the folding box opposite the bending line.

Because a closure flap is formed on the edge of the decorative wall by the cut in the hinged box section, the folding box can be closed easily without any additional tools.

The decorative wall is expediently designed in particular as a lid of the folding box and is hinged via a bending line to another wall, in particular a side wall of the folding box. The folding box and the decorative wall thus form a composite, whereby the decorative wall can, for example, form a box lid that is movable in the bending line.

Further processing and in particular setting up the folding box is made particularly easy by the fact that the folding box consists of a one-piece cut in a further development of this inventive concept. 5

According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that an insertion opening for the information carrier and/or the decorative element or the like is formed on at least one side of the insertion pocket. In this way, the information carrier and/or the decorative element or the like can be easily inserted into the insertion pocket from the inside of the decorative wall.

According to a further embodiment of the invention, an intermediate piece adapted to the thickness of the information carrier and/or decorative element or the like to be inserted is arranged between the receiving wall and the decorative wall, so that the insertion pocket is given a desired thickness, which in particular makes it easier to insert a thicker information carrier or decorative element into the insertion pocket.

In a folding box in which the receiving wall is a separate part that is glued to the inside of the passepartout edge of the decorative wall, the intermediate piece can be implemented in a particularly simple manner in such a way that deflection tabs are arranged on the sides connected to the decorative wall, which can be folded over to the side of the receiving wall facing the decorative wall and are attached with their edge areas to the inside of the passepartout edge. Three deflection tabs are expediently provided, with the fourth side of the receiving wall forming the insertion opening.

According to the invention, the pocket is given a special rigidity if the deflection tabs form a glued edge that is glued to the back of the receiving wall.

According to a further development of this inventive concept, the thickness of the pocket can also be increased by forming a recess in the receiving wall by means of a surface compression or the like. The surface compression can be formed during a punching process. The recess formed in this or a similar way in the interior of the receiving wall creates sufficient space to accommodate even a thicker information carrier and/or decorative element.

According to the invention, the replacement of the information carrier or decorative element is made easier by the fact that a particularly semicircular recess is formed in the edge section of the receiving wall that delimits the insertion opening.

In order to be able to use the folding box for different purposes at a later date, according to the invention, it is provided that the information carrier and/or the decorative element are interchangeable.

Advantageously, the information carrier and/or the decorative element consist of printed cardboard, paper and/or foil. However, according to the invention, they can also be individually designed by the information carrier and/or the decorative element being photos.

Fig. 1 shows a folding box 1 with side walls 2 and 3 and a lid designed as a decorative wall 4. A surface piece 5 is cut out in the decorative wall 4, which allows a view of a receiving wall 6. The remaining part of the decorative wall 4, which forms a passepartout edge 7, forms with the underlying receiving wall 6 an insertion pocket 8, which is described in more detail below. The decorative wall 4 is hinged to a side wall 10 of the folding box 1 via a bending line 9 and the folding box 1 can be closed by means of an opposite closing tab 11.

opposite longitudinal edge of the decorative wall 4 along a bending line 1 2 the receiving wall 6 is hinged to the decorative wall 4.

As can be seen from Fig. 3, the decorative wall 4 forms the insertion pocket 8 for an information carrier (not shown) and/or a decorative element or the like with the receiving wall 6, which can be bent around the bending line 12 onto the decorative wall 4 and fastened there.

In the receiving wall 6, an approximately semicircular incision 13 is formed to form the closure flap 11, such that its bending line 14 coincides with the bending line 12 of the receiving wall 6, which serves as the hinge edge. The closure flap 11 can be inserted into an opening 15 formed in the side wall 2, with which the folding box 1 can be closed. Side flaps 18 and 19 are hinged to the front sides of the decorative wall 4 via bending lines 16 and 17, which can be inserted into the interior of the folding box 1 along the side walls 3 and 20 and ensure that the folding box 1 is securely closed.

As can be seen in particular from Fig. 3, the receiving wall 6 is folded along the bending line 12 onto the side of the decorative wall 4 facing the inside of the folding box so that it forms the insertion pocket 8 with the passepartout edge 7 of the decorative wall 3. Along its side edge areas 22 and 23, the receiving wall 6 is connected to the inside of the passepartout edge 7 of the decorative wall 4 by gluing.

The narrow side edge area 24 of the receiving wall has no adhesive connection, but forms the insertion opening 21.

To close the folding box 1, both the side flaps 18 and 19 and the closure flap 11 are bent inwards by 90° and inserted into the interior of the folding box 1.

The closure tab 11 can engage in an opening 15 formed by the side wall 2.

To insert or replace an information carrier and/or decorative element or the like, the decorative wall 4 serving as a cover is opened and the information carrier or the decorative element or the like is inserted through the insertion opening 21 into the insertion pocket 8 so that the information carrier or the decorative element or the like comes to lie in the viewing window formed by the removed surface piece 5, which is framed by the passepartout edge 7. The decorative wall 4 is then closed again as described above.

The embodiment of a folding box 30 according to the invention shown in Fig. 4 hardly shows any difference at first glance compared to the folding box 1 shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 5 shows, however, that the receiving wall 31 in this embodiment is formed by a one-piece corrugated cardboard, carton or the like, which is glued along three of its edges to the side of the passepartout edge 7 of the decorative wall 4 facing the inside of the box. For better understanding, identical parts or parts with the same effect are provided with the same reference numerals.

Instead of the receiving wall 6 in Fig. 2, in Fig. 5, on the longitudinal edge of the decorative wall 4 facing away from the bending line 9, a side flap 27 is hinged to the decorative wall 4 via a bending line 26, which serves as a closure element for the folding box 31 and can be inserted into the interior of the folding box for this purpose.

In the embodiment shown, an intermediate piece (not shown in detail) can be arranged between the decorative wall 4 and the receiving wall 31, with which the height

the insert pocket 8 can be adapted to the thickness of the information carrier and/or decorative element or the like to be accommodated. This intermediate piece is preferably made of the same material as the receiving wall 31 and is arranged on the two long sides and the closed front side between the receiving wall 31 and the decorative wall 4 and is connected to the two walls by gluing.

The intermediate piece can also be implemented in the folding box 30 shown in Fig. 4 and 5, in which the receiving wall 31 is a separate part that is glued to the inside of the passepartout edge 7 of the decorative wall 4, by arranging deflection tabs (not shown) on the three sides connected to the decorative wall, which can be folded over to the side of the receiving wall 31 facing the decorative wall 4 and are attached with their edge areas to the inside of the passepartout edge 7.

The insert pocket 8 is given a special rigidity if, as is not shown in more detail, the deflection tabs form a glued edge that is glued to the back of the receiving wall 6 or 31.

The thickness of the pocket can also be increased by forming a recess in the receiving wall 6 or 31 by means of a surface compression or the like. The surface compression (not shown) can be formed during a punching process. The recess formed in this or a similar way in the interior of the receiving wall 6 or 31 creates sufficient space for accommodating an information carrier and/or decorative element, even if it is thicker.

The side flaps 18 and 19 hinged to the front sides of the decorative wall 4 not only serve to close the folding box 1, but also increase its stability.

The information carriers and/or decorative elements or the like, which are not shown in detail, can either consist of printed cardboard, paper and/or foil, or photos or the like can also be used. For certain purposes, other inserts can also be inserted into the insert pocket 8. These are not only held securely in the insert pocket 8 by the passepartout edge 7, but with appropriate design, which is indicated in Fig. 4 by graphic elements 29, their advertising and aesthetic effect is further enhanced.

Protection claims: 1. Folding box made of corrugated cardboard, cardboard or the like for packaging goods, in particular as gift packaging, wherein at least one wall is designed as a decorative wall that can be provided with an insertable information carrier and/or decorative element or the like, characterized in that a surface piece (5) is cut out of the decorative wall (4) of the folding box (1, 30) to form a passepartout edge (7) and that the side of the decorative wall (4) facing the inside of the box is assigned a receiving wall (6, 31) which forms an insertion pocket (8) with the decorative wall (4) for receiving the information carrier and/or decorative element or the like. 2. Folding box according to claim 1, characterized in that the receiving wall (31) consists in one piece of corrugated cardboard, cardboard or the like and is glued to the inside of the passepartout edge (7). 3. Folding box according to claim 1, characterized in that the receiving wall (6) is formed by a box section hinged to the decorative wall (4), which can be bent over onto the inside of the decorative wall (4) and fastened there. 4.
