HOLDER FOR PORTABLE PHONES

The invention relates to a holder for portable telephones, with a detachable adapter for receiving a telephone and for connecting the telephone to a power source, a charger, an antenna, etc., in particular in a motor vehicle, which holder has a base surface for fastening to a surface and an opposite receiving surface that interacts with the adapter.

- Such holders are known in many designs. They are used to detachably hold an adapter into which a portable telephone, a so-called "mobile phone", can be detachably inserted. The adapter establishes the connection to a power source, e.g. the battery of a motor vehicle or an antenna. It also serves as a charging station for the portable telephone device. Inside the motor vehicle, the telephone can be removed from the holder together with the adapter in order to make a call. When the user leaves the motor vehicle, he only takes the mobile phone out of the adapter. As mentioned, solutions of this type are available on the market in numerous designs.

The invention is based on the object of creating a particularly simple and inexpensive arrangement of holder and adapter, which enables the adapter to be very easily hooked into the holder after making a phone call, in such a way that the user's attention is only minimally required and the process can be easily carried out even in the dark.

To achieve this object, the holder according to the invention is characterized in that hook-shaped projections facing each other are provided on opposite edges of the receiving surface, one of which is arranged on a sliding piece that is resiliently preloaded in the direction of the other until it reaches a stop, and that corresponding hook-shaped projections are provided on the corresponding edges of the rear surface of the adapter facing the receiving surface of the holder.

Instead of hook-shaped projections that engage behind one another, corresponding, interlocking arrangements of projection and groove or the like can also be provided. It is only necessary that positive connections are made on both opposite sides of the holder and the adapter.

When putting the adapter down, the user first engages the hook-shaped projections on the side of the spring-loaded slide of the holder by slightly tilting the holder. He presses this hook-shaped projection with the associated slide back slightly against the spring action, then places the adapter against the holder and brings about the positive engagement on the other side. The spring action reliably creates and maintains the positive engagement on both sides. When releasing the adapter, firstly only pressure must be exerted against the spring preload and then first one and then the second positive engagement must be released.

For handling purposes, it is particularly convenient if the two hook-shaped projections on the holder and the adapter are at the top and bottom and the lower hook-shaped projection is attached to the spring-loaded sliding piece. This sliding piece can initially be pressed down by the user when the adapter is to be latched or released.

In Fig. 1, a holder according to the invention is designated as a whole by 10. The holder has, approximately, the shape of a flat, essentially rectangular box that is open towards the viewer and has a base 12, two longer side walls 14, 16 and an upper and lower side wall 18 and 20. In the base 12 there are screw holes 22, 24 for receiving screws 26, 28 for fastening to a surface not shown, such as a console or dashboard of a motor vehicle.

-In this context, terms such as "top" and "bottom" refer to the position shown in Fig. 1, in which the bracket is usually mounted, possibly with a slight inclination to the rear.

The lower side wall 20 is, in relation to the picture of the box, somewhat lower than the three other side walls 14, 16, 18 of the holder. Ribs 30 extend from the two corners that the lower side wall 20 forms with the lateral side walls 14, 16 over the inner surface of the lateral side walls 14, 16. A sliding piece 32 slides on these ribs 30 in a vertical direction with respect to Fig. 1, the lateral grooves 34 of which accommodate the two ribs 30, of which only one is shown in Fig. 1. The sliding piece 32 thus reaches the position shown in Fig. 2 within the holder 10. The sliding piece 32 is preloaded upwards with respect to the holder 10 into the position shown in Fig. 2 by a spring 36. This spring is located inside the sliding piece 32, which is hollow on the side facing away from Fig. 1, and is supported on the lower side wall 20 of the holder. The sliding piece 32 is held in the position shown in Fig. 2 by a stop (not shown) against the force of the spring 36.

A hook-shaped projection 38 projects from the inner surface of the upper wall 10 at its front edge. The projection 38 is shown as a solid rib or strip, but can be replaced by individual projecting cams or projections of a different outline.

A hook-shaped projection 40 also protrudes from the lower edge on the side of the slider 32 facing the viewer, facing the other projection 38. This lower projection 40, which is located on the slider 32, extends over the entire width of the slider.

Fig. 3 shows a holder 10 according to Fig. 1 and 2, into which an adapter 42 is inserted for holding a portable telephone (not shown). The adapter essentially consists of a lower block 44 with various indicator lights 46 on the front, a switch 48 in the area of the indicator lights and a plug connection 50 for the telephone (not shown) on the top. A cable (not shown) extends from this block 44, particularly on the bottom, which serves as a power supply and, if necessary, also as an antenna connection. The block can have the function of a charger for a battery arranged in the telephone itself. The block is connected to the back and top, based on the illustration in Fig. 3, with an insertion guide 52 into which a telephone (not shown) can be inserted from above. The slide-in guide essentially has a rear wall 54 which is set back in its upper area, side walls 56, 58 which are slightly drawn inwards at their front edges, and an apron 60 which extends behind the rear of the block 44. In Fig. 3 it can be seen that the upper, rib-shaped projection 38 of the holder reaches over the upper edge of the rear wall 54 of the adapter into its set-back area. This set-back area of the rear wall 54 enters the interior of the box-shaped holder. It only takes up the upper part of the adapter, since the sliding piece 32 is located in the lower part, as Fig. 2 shows.

Another projection in the form of an elongated strip (not shown) is located on the lower edge of the skirt 60 of the insertion guide 52 of the adapter 42. This rib-shaped projection (not shown) interacts with the projection 40 on the lower edge of the slider 32.

Typically, and in accordance with the purpose of the present holder, the user of the portable telephone inserts this telephone into the adapter 42 when entering the motor vehicle so that the telephone is held by the insertion guide 52 and connected to the plug connection 50. It can be held in this position by suitable, not shown, releasable locking means.

If the telephone is to be used inside the motor vehicle, it usually remains connected to the adapter 42, the power supply from the motor vehicle and the telephone antenna of the motor vehicle. To release it from the holder 10, the telephone is therefore pressed downwards with the adapter in relation to Fig. 3. The strip-shaped projection on the underside of the apron 60 presses against the projection 40 on the underside of the slide piece 32. The slide piece is pushed downwards against the spring action of the spring 36, so that in the upper area the positive connection between the downward-facing projection 38 of the holder and the upper edge of the rear wall 54 is released, so that the telephone can be swung out forwards together with the adapter. It can now also be lifted off the lower projecting strip on the slide piece 32.

When resetting the telephone with the adapter, the adapter is first placed on the bottom of the projection 40 of the sliding piece 32 and the sliding piece is pressed downwards. In this position, the adapter can be swung together with the telephone towards the holder so that when the telephone is released, it is pressed upwards together with the adapter 42 by the spring 26 and the projection 38 on the holder in turn grips over the rear wall 54 of the adapter.

This type of connection is extremely simple and reliable and can be used without any problems, especially when the driver is not paying much attention to the driving process and even in the dark.

Holder for portable telephones, with a detachable adapter (42) for receiving a telephone and for connecting the telephone to a power source, a charger, an antenna, etc., in particular in a motor vehicle, which holder has a base surface for fastening to a surface and an opposite receiving surface which interacts with the adapter, characterized in that hook-shaped projections (38, 40) facing one another are provided on opposite edges of the receiving surface, one of which is arranged on a sliding piece (32) which is resiliently prestressed in the direction of the other until it reaches a stop, and that corresponding hook-shaped projections (54) are provided on the corresponding edges of the rear surface of the adapter (42) facing the receiving surface of the holder (10). 2. Holder according to claim 1, characterized in that the holder has essentially the shape of a flat, open box with a base (12) and side walls (14, 16, 18, 20), that ribs (30) are formed on the inner surfaces of the two longer side walls (14, 16) in the longitudinal direction of the side walls, and that the sliding piece (32) has corresponding grooves (34) and is displaceable along the ribs (30) within the box formed by the holder (10). 3. Holder according to claim 2, characterized in that the adapter (42) has a block (44) with connecting lines for power, antenna, etc. and an insertion guide (52) projecting from this for inserting a portable telephone. 4. Holder according to claim 3, characterized in that the insertion guide (52) has a rear wall (54) and side walls (56, 58) which are drawn around in the direction of one another on the side opposite the rear wall (54), and that the rear wall (54) is designed to be recessed in the upper region in such a way that it enters between the side walls (14, 16) of the holder.
