Die Anbringung eines Kellenschnittes an der Stirnseite des Putzes hat jedoch den Nachteil, daß an der Stoßstelle zwischen dem Holzkörper und der Wand eine Fuge verbleibt, durch die Luft dringen kann. Insbesondere bei Außenmauern, die beispielsweise vom Dachstuhl durchdrungen werden, fuhrt dies zu unerwünschtem Einnisten von Insekten. Im Bereich der Fuge ist das Mauerwerk ungeschützt, so daß es von eindringender Feuchtigkeit angegriffen werden kann.
