In der Patentschrift 263332 ist ..angegeben, daß den Halogenderivaten des Äthylens hervorragende desinfizierende Eigenschaften zukommen. Der Anwendung dieser Substanzen in wässeriger Lösung steht ihre geringe Löslichkeit hindernd entgegen. Diesem Übelstand kann durch die Herstellung von Seifenlösungen abgeholfen werden. Es gelingt z. B., aus palmitin-, myristin-, rizinolsaurem und sulforizinolsaurem Kali u. dgl. und den Halogenäthylenen klare Lösungen herzustellen, die sich mit Wasser klar verdünnen lassen. Werden die Seifenlösungen mit den Halogenäthylenen zusammengebracht, so entsteht je nach den Mengenverhältnissen eine mehr oder weniger feste Gallerte, die sich bei Lösungen mit geringem Halogenäthylengehalt nach längerer Zeit verflüssigt, bei denjenigen mit höherem Gehalt (10 Prozent und mehr) aber fest bleibt. In Wasser geben diese Gallerten schwach opaleszierende Lösungen. Durch Zusatz einer geringen Menge von Salzen, z. B, Ammoniumchlorid, Natriumsulfat, Ammoniumcarbonat, Natriumcarbonat, oder aber von Aceton, Alkohol u. dgl. werden diese Gallerten verflüssigt.
