Verfahren zum Reinigen von Glas.
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 9. August 1912 ab.
Process for cleaning glass.
Patented in the German Empire on August 9, 1912.

The invention consists in a new method for cleaning dirty glass. The glass is then treated with a mixture of approximately 4 parts by weight of hydrofluoric acid (approx 32 percent), 1 part by weight of sulphurous acid (about 4.4 percent), 1 part by weight of antimony chloride solution (about 32.5 percent), 1 part by weight of zinc chloride solution (about 32.2 percent) and 3 parts by weight of hydrochloric acid (about 32.5 percent) and after a few minutes with Rinsed off with water. If the dirt has not yet been completely removed, the procedure will be repeated a second time.

The use of acids, such as sulfuric or hydrochloric acid, and of acidic salts as Glass cleaning agents are already known. But with these known means, too when used together, the removal of stubborn dirt by simple rinsing not to be achieved with water without rubbing. Apparently the peculiar one Effect of the mixture due to the presence of hydrofluoric acid.

The specified proportions can be changed within certain limits.

The method described even removes what appears to be burnt-in soot Remove completely devalued glass so that it becomes completely crystal clear again. Despite this powerful effect of the mixture on the contaminants, neither will Glass itself still attacked its metal surrounds.

The process is particularly suitable for cleaning the glazing of industrial plants, Railway stations and the like
