Die Scheinkerzen 1 werden auf den mit elektrischer Leitung versehenen Leuchtern so angebracht, daß die Stellstifte 3 (von der Rampe der Theaterbühne aus gesehen) nach hinten gerichtet sind. Das' Löschhorn besteht aus einem Blechkegel 5 (Fig. 2), auf welchen ein sogenannter Wachsstock 6 aufgewickelt ist. Am Blechkegel 5 ist ein Bügel 8 befestigt, der zum Hochschieben des Stellstiftes 3 dient, wenn die Kerze entzündet werden soll (Fig. 1). Der tiefer sitzende Bügel 9 dient zum Auslöschen der Kerze, indem durch ihn der Stellstift 3 nach unten bewegt, der Kontakt also unterbrochen bzw. das Kontaktstäbchen 17 aus der Einbiegung 16 der Kontaktfedern 14 bis 15 herausgezogen wird. Eine am Löschhorn angebrachte Zwinge 10 dient dazu, dasselbe auf einem entsprechend langen Stock 11 zu befestigen. Soll eine elektrische Scheinkerze mittels des Löschhorns entzündet werden, so wird dasselbe vor der Kerze derart nach oben geführt, daß der Bügel 8 (Fig. 1 und 3) um die Kerze herumgreift und so den Stellstift 3 nach oben schiebt, damit der Strom geschlossen und die elektrische Lampe 2 zum Leuchten gebracht. Da die Flamme 7 am Wachsstock 6 vorher angezündet war und die Flamme 7 in der Höhe der Lampe 2 sich befindet, wird der Anschein erweckt, als würde eine wirkliche Kerze an einem Kronleuchter oder Wandarm tatsächlich entzündet. Um bei elektrischen Kerzen den Anschein des Auslöschens wirklicher Kerzen durch das Löschhorn hervorzubringen, wird letzteres von oben her so über die elektrische Lampe 2 (Fig. 2) geführt, daß der Bügel 9, nach hinten gerichtet, um die Scheinkerze 1 herumgreift und den Stellstift 3 und damit den Schieber nebst Kontaktstäbchen 17 nach unten drückt, wodurch die Lampe 2 ausgeschaltet bzw. zum Erlöschen gebracht wird. Um elek-~ trische Lampen auf Scheinkerzen an höherem Standpunkte durch scheinbares Ausblasen derselben zum Erlöschen zu bringen, ist der Stellstift 3 mit einem kleinen Loch 4 versehen, in welches eine dünne Seidenschnur eingezogen wird. Letztere wird an eine leicht zugängliche Stelle geleitet und in dem Augenblick angezogen, wo gegen die Scheinkerze geblasen wird. Der dabei nach unten bewegte Kontaktschieber a8 unterbricht den Strom und bringt damit die elektrische Lampe zum Erlöschen.
