Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT,PATENT OFFICE,
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein VerfahrenThe invention relates to a method
zum Abscheiden von Wasser, Salz und Schlamm aus Rohpetroleum durch Erhitzen.for separating water, salt and sludge from crude petroleum by heating.
Gegenüber den bekannten Verfahren, nach denen Rohpetroleum von seinen Verunreinigungen ebenfalls durch Erhitzen getrennt wird, unterscheidet sich das vorliegende Verfahren dadurch, daß das Rohpetroleum zusammen mit Süßwasser in einem mit einem KühlerCompared to the known method, according to which crude petroleum from its impurities is also separated by heating, the present method is different in that the crude petroleum together with fresh water in one with a cooler
ίο connected container is first heated until drops of water appear on the cooler, whereupon the crude petroleum treated in this way, advantageously with removal of the heat source in order to prevent the further billowing of the boiling water, is left to rest and after the removal of the water and other impurities is subjected to conventional distillation. The main advantages of this process result from the following: The salt water naturally added to the crude petroleum forms an emulsion with the latter, so to speak, from which water and salt are only separated out extremely slowly by heating: If, however, the crude petroleum according to 1 of the invention is now used with fresh water and then heated up, the vapors rising from the fresh water, as a result of the dilution of the added brine, loosened the emulsion extraordinarily, so that the separation of oil, water, salt and sludge proceeded extremely quickly. Even in the case of crude petroleum with a very high water content by nature, this separation process is accelerated considerably by the addition of fresh water. In addition, both high and low water content crude petroleum have the addition of fresh water. Another great advantage is that the boiling point of the aqueous constituents is considerably reduced as a result of the dilution, so that the easily evaporating constituents of the crude petroleum remain in the same for the time being. Overheating of even part of the crude petroleum prevents the layer of fresh water remaining under it, which is exposed to heating alone. The cleaning process is also accelerated considerably by the fact that the rising water vapors and the falling brine, which is more and more dilute, move in countercurrent together with other impurities.
The process is expediently carried out in large distillation or dewatering vessels which are provided with a manhole, helmet and exhaust pipe, and which, as mentioned, · A cooler is placed in front of it, to collect the complete drainage towards the end of the cleaning process with the water vapors at about the same time as the water vapors light oil fractions. ' The boilers are expediently four-sixths with oil and one-sixth filled with well water.
